ARGO'S CONTRACT PURCHASED BY THE MARINERS

SIOUX FALLS, SD – The contract of Sioux Falls Canaries outfielder Willie Argo has been purchased by the Seattle Mariners.

Argo, 27, joined the Sioux Falls Canaries on September 27th, completing a previous trade that sent 1B David Bergin to the St. Paul Saints. In 2016, Argo finished with a .294/.408/.513/.921 slash line in 68 games played, collecting 16 doubles, 5 triples, 8 home runs, and 41 runs batted in.

The Davenport, Iowa native played collegiately at the University of Illinois, where he was selected by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 22nd round of the 2012 MLB Draft. Willie quickly rose through the minor leagues, reaching as high as Double-A before joining the St. Paul Saints in 2015.
