SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Sioux Falls Canaries offense fell flat on Saturday in a 4-0 loss to Wichita. Birds starter John Straka allowed just one unearned run on three hits, throwing a season-high six innings.

Straka and Wichita starter Travis Banwart were ready to work on Saturday, with neither team recording a hit until the bottom of the third inning.

Wichita opened the scoring in the fourth.  Zach Nehrir singled on a ground ball to the right side, moving to second on a throwing error. Abel Nieves singled him in one batter later to give the Wingnuts a 1-0 lead.

Wichita tagged Sioux Falls reliever Trevor Jaunich for three runs in the seventh. A two-run single by Logan Watkins made it 4-0, but Jaunich escaped further damage by inducing an inning-ending double play with the bases loaded.

Banwart pitched eight innings, allowing three hits and three walks in his fifth win of the season.
