Canaries Acquire LHP Al Yevoli From Wichita
Wichita, KS—The Sioux Falls Canaries announced on Wednesday morning that the organization has acquired LHP Al Yevoli from the Wichita Wingnuts to complete an earlier trade that sent outfielder Harrison Kain to Wichita for a player to be named later.
Yevoli is in the midst of his fourth professional season in 2015, holding a 10-8 record, and 3.60 ERA in 147 career relief appearances. The southpaw spent parts of three seasons with the Frontier League’s Washington WildThings, posting a 6-8 record to go along with his 105 strikeouts in 96 relief appearances.
The 25-year-old left-hander was picked up by the Chicago cubs in 2013, making 11 relief appearances for the Class A, Midwest League affiliate, Kane County Cougars. He recorded 19 strikeouts, and allowed nine runs in 20 innings of work.
Yevoli made 31 appearances for the Wingnuts this season, recording 29 strikeouts while walking 15 batters in 30 1/3 innings pitched.
Yevoli and the Canaries wrap up a four-game series against Wichita on Wednesday morning with an 11:05 AM first pitch at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium. Fans can catch all of the action on Sioux Falls Sports Radio KWSN, AM-1230 FM-98.1.
The eight-game road trip continues Thursday night as the Birds open up a four-game series against the Amarillo Thunderheads. Tyler Pearson (2-2, 4.58 ERA) will make his third start of the season for Sioux Falls.
