Canaries Acquire RHP Bryan Escanio From Sioux City

SIOUX FALLS, SD- The Sioux Falls Canaries announced on Thursday afternoon that the organization has acquired RHP Bryan Escanio from the Sioux City Explorers to complete their August 26th trade that sent RHP Shawn Blackwell to Sioux City.

The 24-year-old Escanio was one of the top starting pitchers for the Explorers in 2016. Escanio finished the season 3rd on the team in starts (14), wins (6), and innings pitched (78.2), while finishing 4th in strikeouts (56).

The Puerto Rican right-hander began his career in 2009 with the Arizona Diamondbacks rookie-ball affiliate in the Dominican Summer League. He spent four seasons in the Diamondbacks organization, going 6-7 with a 4.50 ERA. Escanio holds a 12-15 career record and 4.66 ERA in eight professional seasons, including two at the independent level.
