Canaries Bats Go Silent as the Saints Defeat Sioux Falls 2-0

ST. PAUL, MINN. – The Sioux Falls Canaries (7-9) had a hard time figuring out St. Paul Saints (14-1) starting pitcher Dustin Crenshaw all night. The Canaries ended up with two hits throughout the contest, and dropped game two by a final of 2-0. Crenshaw faced the minimum, 27 batters at CHS Field in front of a sold-out crowd.

Canaries starting pitcher Brett Gerritse (0-4, 5.31 ERA) went on to throw four innings on two runs and nine hits. The Birds’ went to the bullpen early as lefty Mike Watt had is best outing in a Canaries uniform in relief. Watt tallied four innings on two hits and six strikeouts.

Richard Stock and Harrison Kain had the lone hits for the Birds’ in tonight’s contest. Stock roped a triple into right field in the top of the second inning.

With the loss today, the Birds’ go to (7-9) on the season. The Birds’ are back in action tomorrow evening as they try to salvage the series and take one game from St. Paul. First pitch is scheduled for 5:05 PM. Jeremy Strawn (1-1, 3.11 ERA) will make his fourth start of the season for the Birds’ in search of his second win in a Canaries uniform.

The Canaries return to the Birdcage on Monday June 8th, as they open up a seven game home stand against the Grand Prairie AirHogs and St. Paul Saints.
