Canaries Bring Back Veteran LHP Kris Regas

SIOUX FALLS, SD- The Sioux Falls Canaries announced on Thursday afternoon that they have signed veteran LHP Kris Regas to a contract for the 2016 season.
Regas appeared in 31 games (13 starts) for the American Association’s Kansas City T-Bones in 2015, posting a 6-5 record and 5.05 ERA. He totaled 69 strikeouts and two saves in 87 1/3 innings of work.
The 36-year-old southpaw is no stranger to the Canaries organization. He appeared in 95 games for the Birds’ from 2007-09, registering a 5-4 record and 1.33 ERA. Regas also totaled 46 saves in a Sioux Falls uniform, second most in franchise history.
“Kris was a favorite for a long time in Sioux Falls,” said Canaries General Manager Duell Higbe. “He is a veteran pitcher who knows what it takes to successful in this league. We think he is going to be a terrific edition to our pitching staff.”
The Bourbonnais, Illinois native begins his 14th professional season in 2016. He holds an overall record of 42-36 to go along with his 3.81 career ERA.
The Sioux Falls Canaries enter their 24th season on May 19th against the Sioux City Explorers at Lewis & Clark Park. The Canaries kick off the 2016 home portion of their schedule on Friday, May 20th.
