Canaries Drop Series Finale With RedHawks

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Sioux Falls Canaries could not keep the offense rolling, failing to tie the four-game series with Fargo-Moorhead. Starter Dylan Thompson pitched seven innings in the loss, only received one run of support in the 6-1 defeat.
The Canaries threatened early on with runners on the corners in the first inning, but a popout kept the game scoreless. Dylan Thompson was cruising through three innings, only facing 11 batters.
The fourth inning presented trouble for Sioux Falls. Fargo-Moorhead went on a two-out rally from that featured four runs on five hits.
David Bergin extended his hitting streak to 13 games with an RBI-double in the seventh. The run cut the Sioux Falls deficit to three, Bergin left stranded at second base.
In the seventh, a great throw by Chris Grayson stopped a RedHawk from advancing to third on a single, but Fargo-Moorhead still managed to scrape across a run in the inning to reclaim their four-run lead at 5-1.
Thompson ended his day at seven innings, allowing five runs and striking out four. The start was his fourth this season of seven innings or more.
Fargo-Moorhead got an insurance run in the ninth, ending the scoring at 6-1.

David Bergin’s hitting streak is at 13 games, five shy of the streak Blake Schmit started the season with, a team-high 18-game stretch … Jabari Henry also continued his hitting streak on Monday, now recording a hit in eight-straight games … Sioux Falls is now 5-7 in games started by Dylan Thompson … the Canaries fall to 4-13 in series finale games.
