SIOUX FALLS, SD– The Sioux Falls Canaries are excited to announce the signing of former Major League outfielder, Jason Repko for the 2015 season.

Repko was a first round draft pick of the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1999 and spent seven big league seasons with the Dodgers, Minnesota Twins and Boston Red Sox from 2005 to 2012.

He spent the 2010 and 2011 season with the Twins where he played in 125 games with the organization, spending time in all three outfield positions. He was part of the 2010 Twins team that claimed the AL Central Division Title with a 94-68 record.

The 34-year-old Repko spent parts of the past two seasons playing independent ball with the Atlantic League’s York Revolution, before briefly retiring from the game in 2013.

“I’m excited to get back to the Midwest and wear a Canaries uniform,” said Repko. “I look forward to getting to Sioux Falls and helping contribute whatever way I can.”

Overall, Repko has enjoyed a well-rounded professional career which includes time playing “AA” and “AAA” affiliated ball, collecting over 1,000 hits in 15 seasons, including 200 doubles and 107 home runs.

“We are extremely happy to have someone of Jason’s caliber on our team this year,” stated Canaries Manager Chris Paterson. “His experience on the field and presence in the clubhouse will be instrumental in the growth of our younger players.”

Repko and The Canaries begin their 23rd season on May 21st-23rd in Sioux City, IA before opening their 2015 home schedule on Sunday, May 24th against the Explorers.  For more information about corporate partnerships or season tickets in 2015, contact the Canaries at (605) 336-6060.
