Canaries Make It Three In A Row After 7-3 Win In Fargo
FARGO, ND—Right-hander Stephen Bougher threw six solid innings, outdueling RedHawks left-hander Brandon Mann, to lead the Canaries to a 7-3 win on Wednesday night at Newman Outdoor Field.
Bougher (2-0, 2.25 ERA) gave up a pair of doubles, and allowed the RedHawks offense to plate home a pair of runs in the bottom of the 1st inning, but settled down nicely after that. The Papillion, NE native retired six straight batters before giving up a solo home run to Fargo’s Joe Staley in the bottom of the 4th, his final run allowed on the night.
In all, Bougher allowed three runs on seven hits while walking a batter and striking out five in six innings of work.
The Birds’ trailed 3-1 going into the top of the 7th inning before Tyler Shover and Harrison Kain scored on a Michael Wing two-run double. Wing scored the go-ahead, and ultimately the winning run two batters later on a David Bergin RBI triple into centerfield.
The Canaries sealed the deal in the top of the 9th inning with three more runs, including a David Bergin two-run double that dropped into the outfield grass after Fargo left-fielder Chad Mozingo lost the towering pop-up in the night sky.
Bergin finished his big night going 2-for-5 with three RBI’s and a run scored. Wing reached base five times for the Canaries, going 2-for-2 with three walks, three RBI’s and two runs scored.
Fargo’s starting pitcher, Brandon Mann picked up a no decision after allowing three runs on seven hits over six innings. The lefty walked just two batters while striking out nine batters while facing 27 batters.
