Sioux Falls, SD – The Sioux Falls Canaries continued their hot-hitting at home, taking the first of four against the Gary SouthShore RailCats, 8-2.

Grady Wood battled through 5.0 innings of work, allowing eight hits, but he kept the RailCats' runs to a minimum, and picked up his first win of the season.

Wood worked around two base runners in the top of the first, striking out Alex Crosby to end the threat. But the RailCats took the lead in the second, on solo-shot off the bat of Ryan Fitzgerald.

The Canaries would come right back to tie things up in the bottom of the inning, as Patrick Fiala followed back-to-back singles with a sacrifice fly.

Once again though, the RailCats would take the lead in the top of the fifth, taking a 2-1 lead on Alex Crosby's single.

But this time, the Canaries would tie things up, take the lead and never look back. Two straight walks for the Canaries put runners on first and second with just one out in the bottom of the fifth. Burt Reynolds, Aaron Gretz and Chris Jacobs followed with back-to-back-to-back singles, ending Rosario's night, and giving the Canaries the lead.

Rosario pitched his worst start of the season, allowing four runs, three earned, over 4.1 innings pitched, while walking three and striking out five.

Walks drawn by Patrick Fiala and Jabari Henry, and singles by B.J. Guinn and Dan Motl, started off the bottom of the sixth, extending the Canaries' lead to 5-2 and loading the bases for Reynolds. Reynolds cleared the bases with a three-run double, and the Canaries took an 8-2 lead.

Reynolds had another terrific night at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs. For the second straight night, every Canary reached base, as the Birds totaled 10 hits.

Wood allowed two runs, one earned, on eight hits, over 5.0 innings pitched, striking out five. Andrew Woeck, Nicco Blank and Jeff Inman combined for four scoreless innings out of the Birds' bullpen, adding four strikeouts to their tally.

The Canaries move to 8-15 with the win, while the RailCats fall to 13-12.
