Canaries Re-Sign Dan Motl
SIOUX FALLS, SD – The Sioux Falls Canaries announced on Monday morning that they have re-signed outfielder Dan Motl.
Motl, 23, is coming off a fantastic 2017 season, where he was one of the top rookie’s in all of the American Association. In 93 games, Motl finished with a .256/.352/.356/.708 slash line, scoring 52 runs, and collecting 41 RBI’s. He was also near the top of the American Association leaderboard in several categories, finishing first in triples (9), and third in stolen bases (37). Perhaps the most impressive stat of all, was his stellar defense in center field, where he collected 237 put outs, 7 outfield assists, and recorded 0 errors.
“We are pleased to have Dan back for the 2018 season,” says Manager Mike Meyer. “I have never coached a better center fielder. He has phenomenal instincts, runs great routes, and has closing speed. Dan also did a great job for us at the plate, working the counts and getting on base. We expect him to only get better as he gets more at-bats under his belt.”
The Sioux Falls Canaries open up their 26th season on Friday, May 18th against the Chicago Dogs.
