Canaries Re-Sign Ty Morrison
SIOUX FALLS, SD – The Sioux Falls Canaries announced on Tuesday morning that they have come to terms with outfielder Ty Morrison.
Morrison, 27, is set to return to Sioux Falls for his second season. The 4th round draft pick by the Tampa Bay Rays, had a stellar season for the Birds in 2017, combining for a .289/.370/.450/.820 slash line in 80 games. The versatile outfielder fills almost every category on the stat sheet, totaling 29 extra base hits, 10 home runs, 47 runs batted in, and 21 stolen bases.
“It’s great to have Ty back in a Canaries uniform for the 2018 season,” says Canaries Manager Mike Meyer. “He is the perfect fit for the lineup we are trying to build in the Birdcage. He hits for average, hits for power, gets on base, and has the ability to steal 20–25 bases. He is a big piece at the top of our lineup.”
The Canaries kick off their home schedule on Friday, May 18th against the Chicago Dogs. Be sure to stick around after the final out for the popular “Friday Night Fireworks”, brought to you by Orthopedic Institute.
