SIOUX FALLS, SD – The Sioux Falls Canaries announced Wednesday morning that they have come to terms with Infielder Tyler Wolfe.
Wolfe, 24, was drafted in the 39th round of the 2016 draft by the Houston Astros after completing his college career at Kansas State. Wolfe worked his way up to the Double-A level in 2017 before his release at the end of July.
The Birds quickly signed the Maple Plain, Minnesota native for the remainder of the 2017 season. Wolfe appeared in 26 games, compiling a solid .236/.346/.427/.773 slash line with 3 home runs, 12 runs batted in, 17 runs scored, and 15 walks.
“We are thrilled to have Tyler back for the 2018 season”, says Canaries GM Duell Higbe. “We hope to have a lot of positional versatility next season, and Tyler’s ability to play all over the field is another great step towards that goal. There is also upside to his offensive game. Not only does he have above average pop, but he grinds out at bats and finds his way on base.”
The Canaries kick off their 26th season on Friday, May 18th at Sioux Falls Stadium against the Chicago Dogs. For more information on season tickets and corporate opportunities, call the Canaries Front Office at (605)336-6060 or visit our website at www.sfcanaries.com.
