Canaries Sign C Tanner DeVinny, Release RHP Jeff Inman

Fargo, ND – The Sioux Falls Canaries have signed former Alabama catcher Tanner DeVinny and released RHP Jeff Inman.

DeVinny graduated from the University of Alabama on May 6, having played two seasons for the Crimson Tide. During his senior season at Alabama, the switch-hitting catcher played in 48 games, 30 starts, finishing the year with finished the year with 20 hits, 16 RBI, 11 runs scored, 28 walks, and a team-leading .398 on-base percentage.

A Class 4A Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association All-State First Team and Texas Sports Writers Association All-State Second Team selection out of Lovejoy High School in Lucas, Texas, DeVinny began his collegiate career at Kansas State.

With the Wildcats, DeVinny hit .257 during his freshman season and was named to the All-Big 12 Freshman Team. Following his freshman year, DeVinny transferred to Grayson Community College for a year, before playing his junior and senior seasons with the Crimson Tide.

DeVinny was also twice named to the SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll, in 2016 and 2017. DeVinny will wear No. 28 with the Canaries.

In eight appearances for the Canaries this season, Inman went 0-1 with an 11.25 ERA, allowing 11 runs on 12 hits while striking out and walking three batters.
