Canaries Sign Flores, Trade for RHP Alex Boshers
SIOUX FALLS, SD – The Canaries announced on Wednesday morning that they have completed a trade with the Winnipeg Goldeyes, sending RHP Dylan Thompson north of the border in exchange for RHP Alex Boshers. The Birds have also agreed to terms with newly acquired, Ryan Flores.
Boshers, 27, has spent the last 4 seasons in the American Association, playing for the Wichita Wingnuts 2015-2017, and the 2018 season with Winnipeg. The versatile right-hander has seen action in 99 games, starting 58 of them. Through 430 innings, Boshers carries a 30-21 record, 4.05 ERA, 1.39 WHIP, and an impressive 0.63 HR/9
“We are excited to have Alex join our ball club,” says Canaries Manager Mike Meyer. “He has been one of the most consistent pitchers in our league over the past 4 seasons, and we look for him to be an important piece to our rotation in 2019. Over the past few seasons, Alex has experienced some of the biggest situations, and has had a great deal of success in them. We feel his veteran leadership will be a huge addition to our club.”
“We would also like to thank Dylan for all of his hard work over the past 3 seasons. We will miss him tremendously both in the clubhouse and on the field, and wish him the best of luck going forward.” Meyer added.
The Canaries have come to terms on a contract for recently acquired pitcher, Ryan Flores. Flores was a lock down arm for the potent Sioux City Explorers bullpen over the past two seasons. Over 144.1 innings, he struck out 165 batters with a 3.43 ERA.
The Canaries open up their 2019 season in May, and expect the schedule to be released in the coming weeks. For all of the latest news and updates, visit the Canaries official website at www.sfcanaries.com, or follow them on Facebook and Twitter.
