He's set D-3 baseball on fire, and now he's headed to the Birds.
The Sioux Falls Canaries have signed catcher Graham Low, the club announced Friday.
Low signs with the Canaries as a rookie out of Macalester College. He will be active for the Canaries series opener with the Gary SouthShore RailCats on Friday.
In a corresponding move, the Canaries released outfielder Christian Hollie, who suited up with the Birds for four games over their season-opening swing in Texas.
Low, who turned 22 on May 21, excelled as Macalester's starting catcher this past collegiate season. He hit .452/.537/.670 with the Scots in 2019, ranking 8th among D-3 players in batting average. Recently he was named first-team all Midwest Region by D3Baseball.com.
His numbers earned him back-to-back Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year awards over the past two seasons, the first time a Macalester player has received the honor.
His skill extends to his work behind the plate, where he's made the MIAC All-Defensive Team each of the last two seasons.
The Sioux Falls Canaries' home opener is scheduled for May 31, a Fireworks Night game against the Winnipeg Goldeyes at 7:05pm.
