Canaries Sign Infielder Michael Broad
SIOUX FALLS, SD—The Sioux Falls Canaries announced on Wednesday afternoon that the organization has signed infielder Michael Broad to a contract.
Broad enters his second season of professional baseball in 2015 after completing an outstanding college career at the University of Miami. The Ft. Lauderdale, FL native appeared in 178 games during his four-year career, posting a .273 batting average, and 50 extra-base hits to go along with his 94 RBI’s.
The infielder appeared in 53 professional games last season for the United League’s San Angelo Colts, and American Association’s Amarillo Sox. Broad posted a .215 batting average in 201 plate appearances, collecting nine doubles and six home runs to go along with his 27 RBI’s.
Broad caught on with the Atlantic League’s Lancaster Barnstormers in 2015, posting a .267 batting average, with a home run and two RBI’s in five games played.
Broad will be in uniform, and in the starting lineup for the opening game of the Canaries four-game series against the St. Paul Saints on Wednesday, July 15th.
