SIOUX FALLS, SD – The Sioux Falls Canaries announced Friday afternoon that the organization has signed Outfielder Dan Motl.

Motl, 22, played collegiately at the University of Minnesota, where he guided the Gophers to a 36-22 overall record in 2016. The Burnsville, MN native had an impressive college career where he slashed .303/.371/.418, highlighted by his senior season where he finished with a .336/.398/.485 line.

“We are very excited to land Dan,” stated Canaries Manager Mike Meyer. “He’s young, hungry, and eager to compete. Motl is a plus defender who can really track down the ball in the outfield. There is a lot of upside to his game, and defines the type of player we are looking to bring in this season.”

The Canaries begin their 25th season on May 18th in Sioux City against the Explorers. For more information about season tickets and corporate opportunities, call the Canaries front office at (605)336-6060 or visit www.sfcanaries.com.
