Henry Named American Association's Pointstreak Player of the Week
Sioux Falls, SD – The Sioux Falls Canaries are excited to announce that outfielder Jabari Henry has been named the American Association’s Pointstreak Player of the Week for September 4th, 2017.
Henry hit .519/.576/1.185 with six home runs, seven runs scored and 12 RBI in a tremendous week at the plate. Henry had 14 hits in 27 at-bats and drew five walks, while striking out just four times.
Henry capped off the week with a three-run home run performance against the Sioux City Explorers on Sept. 3, going 3-for-5 with three home runs, three runs scored and four RBI.
With his third home run on Sept. 3, his 29th of the season, Henry tied former Canary Tim Pahuta for the Birds’ single-season home run record, set by Pahuta in 2013. Henry also fell just one home run short of tying the American Association single-season record set by former Wichita Wingnut C.J. Ziegler in 2013.
Henry finished the season hitting .302/.401/.617 with 13 doubles, a triple, 29 home runs and 72 RBI in 84 games played. Henry led the Canaries in batting average, slugging and on-base percentage, home runs and RBI, while also finishing as the league-leader in home runs.
Henry was named the PointStreak Player of the Week for the second time this season. He was named the Pointstreak Player of the Week for the week of June 19th, after hitting .469 (15-for-32) with two doubles, three home runs, and 11 RBI during an impressive week at the plate.
Four Canaries were named PointStreak Players of the Week a total of five times this season, Henry twice and RHP Grady Wood, RHP Miles Nordgren and OF Ty Morrison each were named once.
