Humphries Named American Association Pointstreak Player Of The Week

SIOUX FALLS, SD—The Sioux Falls Canaries are pleased to announce that outfielder, Brian Humphries has been named the American Association’s Pointstreak Player of the week.

The hard-hitting outfielder had a big week for the Birds’, going 17-for-32 at the plate (.531 AVG) with three doubles, two home runs, 11 RBI’s, and six runs scored. 

Humphries did most of his damage in the first three games of the weekend series against the Gary-Southshore RailCats.  In those games, the left-handed hitting outfielder went 9-for-15 with two doubles, and four RBI’s.  His big weekend was highlighted by a 5-for-6 effort in the series opener on July 10th, including a two-out RBI single in the Canaries big three-run fifth inning. 

The El Cajon, CA native has now hit safely in eight of his last ten ball games, going 20-for-44 during that stretch while posting a .454 batting average.  During the 10-game stretch, Humphries has collected five doubles, two home runs, 12 RBI’s and seven runs scored. 

Humphries is now second on the team with a .321 batting average.  His 63 hits are tops on the team in 2015, and is in the top three of several other offensive categories, including doubles (12), home runs (5), and RBI’s (27). 

Humphries and the Canaries wrap up a four-game series against the Gary-Southshore RailCats on Monday afternoon, before a scheduled off day on Tuesday.  The Birds’ return to Sioux Falls Stadium on Wednesday, July 15th to take on their North Division rivals, the St. Paul Saints at 7:05 PM.
