SIOUX CITY - The Sioux Falls Canaries scored twice in the ninth but fell 7-6 in the second game of their four-game set at Lewis and Clark Park Tuesday. The Birds and Explorers continue the series Wednesday at 7:05 pm.

Jabari Henry hit a two-run home run, and Cade Gotta finished with three hits in the loss. Gotta stole home on a daring play in the fifth to even the contest at 4-4. The X’s tagged starter Tyler Garkow and relief man Jackson Maynard for three runs in the seventh to reassume the lead.

The Canaries scored twice in the ninth on an RBI base hit by Cade Gotta and a sacrifice fly from Nick Gotta. Cade was stranded on second to end the contest.

Garkow (2-5) matched a season-high with ten strikeouts. He allowed four runs in the first but held the X’s scoreless in the second through the sixth to give the Birds a chance to get back in the game.

Matt Quintana (3-0) earned the win for Sioux City by firing 1.1 innings of scoreless relief in support of starter Patrick Ledet. Nate Gercken earned his first save of the season despite allowing the two ninth inning runs.
