Kevin Folman Re-Joins Canaries
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Former North Dakota State University star Kevin Folman is returning to the Sioux Falls Canaries for the 2020 season, the club announced Monday.
2020 will be Folman's second season in a Birds uniform, after he made seven starts with the Canaries in 2018. He posted a 3.48 ERA and 1.40 WHIP over 41.1 innings with the Birds, quickly becoming one of the most reliable members of the Canaries' rotation. He was signed mid-season by the Chicago White Sox organization
"I'm looking forward to getting back to baseball," Folman said. "I can't wait to be a Bird and get down to Sioux Falls."
Folman played at three levels of the White Sox organization in 2018 and 2019. He spent most of his 2018 stint with Chicago's Arizona League affiliate, earning a 3.45 ERA over six appearances (five starts). He posted a 5.81 ERA and 1.46 WHIP in 2019 with Class A Kannapolis.
Folman played four years of college ball at NDSU, and had a breakout season as a redshirt junior. The Hermantown, Minn. native posted a 2.70 ERA in 21 appearances in 2017, ranking third in the Summit League with eight saves.
The 23-year-old was a valuable piece out of the bullpen his senior year as well, earning a 3.18 ERA in 18 appearances. He struck out 49 batters in 45 innings pitched.
