SIOUX FALLS, SD- The Sioux Falls Canaries continued their three-game series with the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks on Tuesday night.  David Bergin celebrated his birthday with a pair of hits, including a two-run double, but a late RedHawks rally spoiled the party, with the Birds’ falling by the final score of 6-5 in front of 2,824 fans at Sioux Falls Stadium.

Starting pitcher Miguel Pena (6-7, 3.44 ERA) made his 17th start of the season, and held the Fargo-Moorhead offense to just two runs over his first six innings.  Bergan gave the Birds a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the 6th, driving in Jason Repko and Jerome Pena on an RBI double off the top of the wall in center field.  The 26-year-old infielder scored the third run of the inning on a Richard Stock RBI single, making it 4-2.

Pena left the game with a 4-3 lead in the top of the 7th with the tying run on base. Relief pitcher James Jones gave up a two-out, go-ahead home run to Joe Bonfe, giving the RedHawks a 5-4 lead.  Jones settled down in the 8th, tossing a shutout inning, but ultimately suffered the loss after recording two strikeouts in 1 and 1/3 innings.

RedHawks starting pitcher Tyler Alexander (4-5, 3.39 ERA) picked up his third straight win after allowing four runs on 11 hits over 7.2 innings.

The Canaries will try to snap their two-game skid on Wednesday night with  LHP Joe Bircher (3-4, 3.42 ERA) taking the mound against RedHawks RHP Taylor Stanton (4-4, 4.41 ERA).
