Torbert swings into Canaries front office
SIOUX FALLS – One of the most prolific players in Sioux Falls Canaries history has joined the team’s front office.
The Canaries announced on Tuesday the hiring of Beau Torbert as the team’s Baseball Outreach Coordinator. In addition, the Canaries have added Carrie King as Fan Services Coordinator and overseer of the Dance and Promo Team.
In his new role, Torbert is charged with reaching youth baseball programs in Sioux Falls and connecting them to the professional talent of the Sioux Falls Canaries. In addition, he will improve the quality of benefits for Canaries players.
Last seaon Torbert was the hitting coach for the Lincoln Saltdogs following his retirement from professsional baseball. He began his playing career in 2004 with the Houston Astros and joined the Canaries in 2008. Torbert is a former two-time American Association Player of the Year and ranks highly in nearly every career team offensive category. He helped the Canaries win the 2008 American Association championship, and he earned independent baseball’s highest prize in 2010, Baseball America’s Independent Player of the Year.
King brings an energetic and professional approach to engaging fans and dance performance. She has extensive experience in dance and was previously a fitness coach for the Sioux Falls Skyforce cheerleading team. King was also a winner of the 2005 Mrs. South Dakota pageant.
