Kansas City T-Bones
( Listen Live! )
Kansas City, KS – Behind Troy Marks’ quality outing, the Sioux Falls Canaries defeated the Kansas City T-Bones, 4-1 on July 4th at Community America Ballpark to snap a four-game losing streak.
In the top of the fourth, the Canaries got things going at the plate and put a run the scoreboard for the first time in seven innings. Chris Jacobs struck out to lead off the inning, but a walk, single and a hit-by-pitch loaded the bases for the Birds.
Falsetti drew another walk to give the Birds the lead, and Louis Mele scored on a passed ball to make it 2-0. Another hit-by-pitch reloaded the bases before Brett Marr smoked a RBI single to extend Sioux Falls’ lead to 3-0.
In the bottom of the inning, the T-Bones scored one on Kyle Petty’s RBI single to cut the deficit to two, but the Canaries came right back in the top of the fifth, extending their lead back to three runs on Blake Schmit’s RBI single, scoring Jacobs from second.
And once again, Kansas City threatened in the bottom of the fifth, loading the bases with one out, but Troy Marks got Chantz Mack to ground out to first, ending the threat and keeping the Canaries’ lead at 4-1.
Marks finished his outing allowing one run on four hits and three walks while striking out two over 5.0 innings pitched.
Andrew Woeck relieved Marks in the sixth and kept the T-Bones off the scoreboard in the sixth and seventh, working around three Kansas City singles. Nicco Blank followed Woeck with a scoreless eighth and ninth to nail down the victory, and earn his first save of the year.
Marks picks up the victory for the Canaries, while Gabe Perez takes the loss for the T-Bones. With the win, the Canaries move to 20-24 on the season, while the T-Bones drop to 25-18.
