Birds Sign Former Triple-A Pitcher Seddon

SIOUX FALLS, SD -- Joel Seddon is coming to Sioux Falls. The right-handed pitcher was picked off of waivers from Winnipeg on Sunday.
Seddon pitched for the Winnipeg Goldeyes from the middle of June until August 15. He started 12 games for the Goldeyes and recorded a 2-5 record. His ERA was a touch under seven at 6.99. In 65.2 innings, he also recorded 34 strikeouts to 28 walks.
Seddon was drafted out of high school by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 20th round of the 2011 draft. He decided to pitch in college at the University of South Carolina where he was drafted again, this time by the Oakland Athletics in the 11th round of the 2014 draft. He has a career record of 32-32 and an ERA of 4.57 since starting in the minors in 2014.
In 2019, he began the season with the Advanced-A Stockton Ports. After two games, Seddon was promoted to AAA Los Vegas in a spot start for three innings before returning to Stockton.
Throughout the rest of Seddon’s starts in the minors, he bounced back and forth between AA Midland and Advanced-A Stockton before being released and picked up by Winnipeg.
The Canaries will be back in action Sunday which is also Bark in the Park night at the Birdcage presented by Mini Critters. Fans can bring their dog to the game for a $5 fee.
