Canaries Add to Infield Depth
SIOUX FALLS, SD – The Sioux Falls Canaries announced Tuesday morning that they have signed rookie infielder Nick Gotta.
Gotta, 23, played collegiately at Northwest Missouri State where he finished up his fine career in 2016. The San Diego, CA native appeared in all of the teams 53 games in 16’, where he tied the University’s single season record with 45 base on balls. Nick finished his career at NW Missouri State with a slash line of .313/.439/.437/.876, 23 doubles, 54 RBI’s, and 78 walks to only 37 strike outs.
“We are excited to bring Nick in,” stated Canaries Manager Mike Meyer. “Nick is a versatile player that can play anywhere on the field. He is a gritty, high on-base guy that does a lot of little things right. We feel he is a great addition to our ball club.”
The Canaries begin their 25th season on May 18th in Sioux City against the Explorers. For more information about season tickets and corporate opportunities, call the Canaries front office at (605)336-6060 or visit www.sfcanaries.com.
