Canaries Taking Applications For Field Manager Position
SIOUX FALLS, SD- The Sioux Falls Canaries announced on Thursday afternoon that the organization has started the process of looking for their next Field Manager for the 2017 American Association season.
The Birds parted ways with former manager Chris Paterson after going 17-38 over the first 55 games of the 2016 season. Paterson was in his second season as field manager with the Canaries, posting an overall record of 56-98 before being replaced by former Canaries player Shelby Ford. The Fort Worth, TX native led the Birds’ to a 23-22 record over their final 45 games, earning wins in six of their final seven games.
“We were really pleased with the way Shelby handled things in the second half of the season for us,” said Canaries General Manager Duell Higbe. “We think Shelby will have every opportunity to win this job, but we have decided as an organization that right now, the best thing for us to do is to open this up to a national search.”
The Canaries are currently taking applications for the Field Manager position. If you are interested in applying, please send your resume and cover letter to Duell@sfcanaries.com. The deadline for accepting applications will be Friday, October 7th.
The Canaries are hoping to build on the success of the 2016 season as they prepare for their 25th anniversary in 2017.
