Sioux Falls Canaries Re-Sign RHP Cole LaLonde and RHP Christian Johnson

Sioux Falls, SDThe Sioux Falls Canaries are excited to announce the re-signing of two key right-handed relievers for the 2025 season.

Cole LaLonde, 26, returns for his third season with the Birds. After an injury-riddled 2024 campaign in which he missed most of the year due to an elbow issue, LaLonde made a strong comeback in late August and is primed for a full season ahead.

Christian Johnson, 25, will suit up for his fourth season in Sioux Falls. A dependable arm out of the bullpen, Johnson has been a consistent presence throughout his career, appearing in 98 games and logging 166.1 innings of work.

“We’re thrilled to bring both Cole and CJ back into the bullpen fold,” said Canaries Manager Mike Meyer. “Cole brings an electric fastball and an improving off-speed repertoire. When he’s on the mound, opposing hitters are never comfortable. CJ, despite his young age, has been a reliable force for us over the past three years. He’s always available and doesn’t shy away from the toughest situations. I’m confident he’ll continue to evolve and make an even bigger impact in 2025.”

The Canaries will kick off their 33rd season on Friday, May 9th, when they take on the Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks. For more information on corporate outings, luxury suites, and season tickets, visit the Canaries’ official website at www.sfcanaries.com or call the Front Office at (605) 336-6060.
