GARY, Ind. – Blake Svoboda carved six scoreless innings, and the Canaries evened the series at US Steel Yard with a 7-3 win Tuesday night. Six Birds bats registered two-hit evenings.

Svoboda (1-1) was brilliant on the mound as the starter. After allowing a couple of runs in the first, he settled down to post five straight scoreless innings. The Mount Marty alum struck out seven en route to his first professional win. He scattered seven hits while allowing just two walks.

Adam Heidenfelder (5-2) suffered the loss on the mound for Gary. The righthander remained in the game in the sixth with over 120 pitches. There he allowed a two-RBI triple to Wyatt Ulrich that inflated the Canaries lead to 5-2. Cade Gotta picked up a two-RBI single in the eighth vs. Gary relief man Nick Garcia to seal the win.

Ulrich, Gotta, Angelo Altavilla, Jabari Henry, Trey Michalczewski and Mike Hart all finished with two hits. Henry and Altavilla each doubled to power a three-run third that seized the momentum for Sioux Falls. The Canaries outhit the RailCats 14-9. Trevor Simms, Grady Wood and Caleb Frare combined to allow just one run in relief behind Svoboda.

Sioux Falls (26-43) will battle Gary (28-41) in the third of the four-game set Tuesday. RHP Tyler Garkow (2-7, 6.11 ERA) will start for the Canaries vs. LHP Trevor Lubking (3-7, 4.87 ERA) for the RailCats.
