FRANKLIN, Wisc. – The Sioux Falls Canaries dropped the second in the three-game series Wednesday night at Franklin Field. The Birds got out to a 2-0 lead in the second before ultimately falling 8-3.

Cade Gotta reached three times in the game. His RBI triple in the first scored Angelo Altavilla, who finished 3-for-5 in the game. Altavilla plated Jordan Ebert in the second after Ebert led the frame off with his first triple of the season.

Ty Culbreth (6-5) was credited with the loss on the mound. The lefty allowed eight hits and seven runs (seven earned) while pitching into the fifth. He struck out five without allowing a walk. The Canaries staff, which also featured Colby Wyatt and Brady Stover in relief, did not issue a walk all night.

Starter Myles Smith (9-3) earned the win on the mound. He limited the Canaries to five hits and two runs (two earned). He escaped multiple jams in the winning effort. The Birds left 13 on base. The Milkmen offense was paced by David Washington, who finished 2-for-4 with a double, a home run, and four RBI.

The Canaries (24-39) and the Milkmen (42-21) finish the three-game set tomorrow at 6:35 pm. RHP Ryan Zimmerman (5-4, 4.04 ERA) will be on the hill for Milwaukee. The Canaries starter is TBA.
