Christopher’s Two-Homer Night Not Enough As Lake Country Walks Off Sioux Falls
Oconomowoc, WI – Shamoy Christopher belted two homeruns and the Canaries rallied from a 9-3 deficit but Lake Country rebounded for an 11-10 walk-off victory in ten innings.
Trevor Achenbach drilled a two-run homerun in the top of the second inning before the DockHounds tied the game with a two-run shot in the bottom half. Lake Country scored twice in the third frame to take the lead before Jabari Henry launched a solo homerun in the top of the fourth.
The DockHounds reeled off five unanswered runs to build their largest lead before the Canaries scored three times in the sixth inning. Welington Dotel brought in a run with a sacrifice groundout and Christopher blasted a two-run longball.
A solo homerun in the bottom of the sixth stretched Lake Country’s lead to 10-6 but Sioux Falls rallied to tie the game with four runs in the eighth inning. Achenbach slashed an RBI double before Dotel ripped a two-run single. Later in the frame Christopher mashed a solo homerun to tie things up before the DockHounds could escape the jam.
Neither team scored until the bottom of the tenth inning when a Sioux Falls error on a sacrifice bunt attempt allowed the winning run to score from second base.
Jabari Henry finished 4-5 while Dotel, Achenbach and Christopher each drove in three runs. The Birds are now 28-34 and will wrap up the three-game series Sunday at 1:35pm.
