
BIRDS SLUG THREE HOMERUNS BEHIND KNOLL’S GEM
Gary, IN — Josh Rehwaldt launched a pair of two-run home runs and drove in four as the Sioux Falls Canaries rolled past Gary SouthShore 10-2 on Wednesday.
Rehwaldt opened the scoring with a two-out, two-run blast in the first inning and added another in the fifth to double the lead. Trevor Achenbach chipped in with an RBI single in the second and later tripled to lead off the seventh, scoring on a Jabari Henry double.
Peter Zimmermann added insurance with a two-run homer in the eighth and Sioux Falls tacked on two more in the ninth on a Calvin Estrada RBI single and a wild pitch that allowed Rehwaldt to score.
Gary SouthShore plated both runs in the third on an RBI double and a run-scoring single.
Brendan Knoll scattered six hits over seven strong innings to help the Birds improve to 15-15 overall. The Canaries will look to sweep the three-game series Thursday at 6:45pm.
