Canaries Sign Infielder Jalen Greer and Right-Handed Pitcher Garrett Martin for the 2026 Season
Sioux Falls, SD – The Sioux Falls Canaries have announced the signings of Infielder Jalen Greer and Right-Handed Pitcher Garrett Martin ahead of the 2026 season.
Greer, 24, began his professional career in 2019 after being selected in the 5th round of the MLB Draft by the Oakland Athletics, making it as high at Double-A. The slick-fielding middle infielder played the 2025 season with the Windy City Thunderbolts of the Frontier league, appearing in 50 games, hitting .237 and swiping 16 bases.
“Jalen is a guy who does a lot of things well,” said Canaries Manager Mike Meyer. “He’s a steady presence in the infield, puts the ball in play, and can create some chaos on the base paths.”
Martin, 26, will don the Birds uniform for the first time in 2026 after playing for 3 different clubs in 2025. The 6’4 right-hander is a work horse, making 41 starts the past two seasons, hurling 231 innings over that span.
“Garrett gives us another quality arm with experience,” Meyer added. “He competes, attacks the zone, and has shown the ability to really eat innings and miss some bats. We’re excited to see what he can do in our system.”
The Canaries will open the 2026 season on May 15, as they begin their quest to defend the West Division title at Sioux Falls Stadium.
With another exciting roster coming together, fans are encouraged to get ready for a summer of championship-caliber baseball. Season tickets, luxury suites, and group outings for the 2026 season are on sale now, offering the best value and experience at The Birdcage.
