Canaries Sign Catcher TJ Racherbaumer for the 2026 Season
Sioux Falls, SD – The Sioux Falls Canaries are pleased to announce the signing of catcher TJ Racherbaumer for the 2026 season.
Racherbaumer, 22, comes to Sioux Falls following a standout collegiate career at Emporia State University, where he played from 2022–2025 before earning his first professional opportunity with the Williamsport Crosscutters of the MLB Draft League late last summer.
A native of Hermann, Missouri, Racherbaumer made an immediate impact at the professional level, appearing in 31 games behind the plate. He showcased his defensive prowess by throwing out 25 percent of would-be base stealers, while also demonstrating an advanced approach at the plate, finishing with an impressive .429 on-base percentage.
“We are very excited to add TJ to the roster,” said Canaries Manager Mike Meyer. “He was an iron man throughout his college career behind the dish, and he showed last summer that he can handle a wood bat.”
The Canaries will open the 2026 season looking to defend their West Division title, beginning on May 15 against the Lincoln Saltdogs at Sioux Falls Stadium.
With championship baseball returning to Sioux Falls, now is the perfect time for fans to secure their seats. Season tickets, luxury suites, and group outings are available for the 2026 season, offering the best way to experience all the action at The Birdcage.
