Canaries Sign Middle Infielder Cam Hassert & RHP Kody Dalen

Sioux Falls, SD – The Sioux Falls Canaries announced the signings of middle infielder Cam Hassert and right-handed pitcher Kody Dalen on Tuesday morning.

Hassert, 23, will begin his professional career in Sioux Falls after an impressive collegiate run at Villanova University and Loyola Marymount University. He broke into the professional ranks last summer with the Frederick Keys of the MLB Draft League, where he quickly made an impact at the plate. Hassert finished the season with a strong slash line of .329/.468/.487 (.955 OPS), showcasing both on-base ability and power.

“We are extremely excited to have Cam join our club’” says Canaries Manager Mike Meyer. “He had a great collegiate career, and showed he can handle a wood bat in the draft league. We look to have him play a big role for us in the upcoming season.”

Dalen, 24, returns to the Canaries following a solid rookie campaign during the 2025 season. The St. John’s/St. Thomas alum played an important role on the pitching staff during the club’s playoff push, appearing in 29 games and striking out 28 batters over 26.2 innings. His versatility and consistency out of the bullpen proved valuable throughout the year.

“Kody really impressed us during his rookie season.” says Meyer. “He had electric stuff, touching 96 at times and showcased a plus slider that can be a weapon out of the back end of our bullpen. We look forward to his continued development in 2026.”

The Canaries will open their 2026 home schedule on Monday, May 18, against the Lake Country DockHounds. Season tickets, group outings, and the brand-new all-inclusive Perch are available now by calling the Canaries Box Office at (605) 336-6060 or by visiting www.sfcanaries.com.
