Christopher’s Homerun Not Enough to Extend Birds Winning Streak
Sioux Falls, SD – The Canaries’ four-game winning streak came to an end on Friday after being dealt a 10-4 loss by rival Sioux City.
The Explorers struck for three runs in the top of the third inning before Shamoy Christopher belted a two-run homerun in the bottom half.
Sioux City, though, went on to score the next five runs before Josh Rehwaldt led off the sixth inning with a double and raced home on Hunter Clanin’s sacrifice groundout.
Each team plated a run in the seventh frame, with the Canaries cashing in on an RBI fielder’s choice, before Sioux City blasted a pair of solo homeruns in the eighth.
Rehwaldt doubled twice and reached base four times while Christopher finished with a pair of hits to lead the Birds offensively. Sioux Falls is now 11-7 and will look to even the series Saturday at 5:35pm.
