Hart Returns to Sioux Falls as Player and Hitting Coach
Sioux Falls, SD – The Sioux Falls Canaries are pleased to announce the return of infielder Mike Hart, who will once again serve as the club’s hitting coach for the upcoming season.
Hart returns to Sioux Falls after a productive 2025 campaign in which he appeared in 87 games, posting a .227 batting average, .384 on-base percentage, and .430 slugging percentage. The veteran right-handed bat totaled 12 doubles, 5 triples, 13 home runs, and 45 RBI, while also drawing 52 walks and providing steady defense across multiple positions.
Over his professional career, Hart has established himself as one of the league’s most consistent offensive performers. In 600-plus career games, he owns a .281 career average, with 104 home runs, 359 RBI, and an outstanding on-base percentage of .402, pairing power with strike-zone discipline and a high baseball IQ. The fan favorite is near the top of virtually every offensive category in club history:

In addition to his on-field production, Hart will continue to serve as the Canaries’ hitting coach. Under his guidance in 2025, Sioux Falls led all of the American Association in total offense, while several hitters enjoyed career-best seasons at the plate.

Hart’s return provides continuity and leadership for the Canaries as they prepare for the upcoming season, with his dual role expected to play a key part in the club’s offensive success both on and off the field.
The Canaries will open the 2026 season on May 15 on the road against the Lincoln Saltdogs, as they begin their quest to defend the West Division title at Sioux Falls Stadium.
