HOT START PROPELS LAKE COUNTRY TO VICTORY OVER BIRDS

Oconomowoc, WI – Jabari Henry and Gavin LaValley clubbed back-to-back two-out homeruns in the first inning but Lake Country scored six times in the bottom half and never looked back, topping the Sioux Falls Canaries 10-5 at Wisconsin Brewing Company Park.

Henry’s round-tripper was his 99th in the American Association while LaValley’s sparked a three-RBI night for the Sioux Falls third baseman. But the DockHounds smacked three RBI doubles and got a three-run homerun from Casey Dykstra in their half of the first to help snap a ten-game losing streak.

Lake Country added two more runs in the second inning but the Birds made that up in the third when Ozzie Martinez scored on a wild pitch and LaValley doubled to drive in Zane Gurwitz. LaValley would later bring home Gurwitz again, this time in the fifth inning, on a sacrifice groundout to get the Birds within 8-5 but Lake Country scored the final two runs of the game to pull away.

LaValley and Henry each finished 2-4 to lead Sioux Falls offensively as the Canaries drop to 29-44 overall. The two teams will rematch Wednesday night at 6:35pm.
