SIOUX FALLS – The Sioux Falls Canaries clinched their second straight series win with a 9-1 victory over the Houston Apollos Thursday night at The Birdcage.

RHP Joey Wagman (1-1) earned the win on the mound for the Canaries. Wagman pitched an eight-inning masterpiece, allowing one earned run on six hits and one walk while striking out seven Apollos. He is the first Canary starter to appear in a ninth inning this season. 

RHP Matt Sanchez (0-1) took the loss for Houston. He went four innings and allowed six runs (all earned).

Jabari Henry led the offensive attack for the Birds with two towering solo home runs. Angelo Altavilla also added a solo home run of his own in the second inning and Zane Gurwitz hit two RBI doubles. The Birds finish the 10-game homestand 6-4. 

The Canaries will start the final roadtrip of the year Friday night at Haymarket Park as they take on the Lincoln Saltdogs. Starting pitchers for both teams are TBA. Game 1 starts at 7:05 PM.
