BIRDS HOMER TWICE IN LOSS TO KANSAS CITY
Sioux Falls, SD – Jabari Henry and Wyatt Ulrich each hit homeruns on Friday but Kansas City proved to be too much as the Monarchs won 7-4 at Sioux Falls Stadium.
Kansas City opened the scoring with three runs in the third inning. Kona Quiggle singled to lead off the bottom half of the frame and scored on an RBI single from Henry.
Each team scored in their half of the fourth inning; the Monarchs got a solo homerun from JC Escarra and Quiggle delivered an RBI single to bring home Trey Michalczewski.
Henry hit his 99th career homerun in a Canaries uniform in the fifth inning to bring the Birds within 4-3 but Kansas City would score the game’s next three runs and carried a four-run lead into the ninth.
Down to the team’s final out, Ulrich came through with his second inside-the-park homerun of the season before a strikeout a batter later ended the game.
Henry, Quiggle and Michalczewski all finished with two hits as Sioux Falls drops to 32-59 overall. The Birds will look to even the series Saturday night at 6:05pm.
