Sioux Falls Canaries Sign Catcher Drey Dirksen

Sioux Falls, SDThe Canaries announced Monday the signing of Catcher Drey Dirksen.

Dirksen, 23, joins the Birds following an incredible career at Augustana University. The 2024 NSIC Gold Glove award winner finished his collegiate career with a slash line of .312/.420./.660/.1080 and 56 home runs, which is Augustana University’s all-time career record. Following Augie’s 24’ season, Dirksen signed with the Mahoning Valley Scrappers of the MLB Draft League.

“We are thrilled to have Drey on-board,” says Canaries Manager Mike Meyer. “After followed his career down the road at Augustana, and hearing all of the praise from his former teammates (Barth, Brown, Miller), we are confident he will be an excellent addition to the club.”

The Canaries open up their 2025 season on the road against the Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks on Friday, May 9th. Their home schedule begins Tuesday, May 13th, welcoming in the Lincoln Saltdogs for a 3-game series.
