Sioux Falls Canaries Announce Return of Josh Rehwaldt Ahead of 2026 Season
Sioux Falls, SD – The Sioux Falls Canaries are pleased to announce the return of one of the most feared hitters in the American Association, Josh Rehwaldt, for the 2026 season.
Rehwaldt, 28, has been a force for the Birds since returning to his hometown ahead of the 2024 campaign. Over the last two seasons, he has appeared in 189 of a possible 200 games, establishing himself as one of the league’s most durable and productive offensive players.
During that two-year stretch, Rehwaldt has compiled:
- 209 hits
- 46 doubles
- 39 home runs
- 127 runs batted in
- 114 walks
“Josh is the type of player every manager wants in their clubhouse,” said Canaries manager Mike Meyer. “He shows up every day ready to compete, he’s a great teammate, and he can play multiple positions. Oh yeah — he routinely hits the ball 120 miles per hour and 470-plus feet.”
The Canaries will open the 2026 season on May 15 on the road against the Lincoln Saltdogs, before returning home on Monday, May 18th to begin their quest to defend the West Division title at Sioux Falls Stadium.
With another exciting roster coming together, fans can look forward to a summer of championship-caliber baseball at The Birdcage. Season tickets, luxury suites, and group outings for the 2026 season are on sale now. For more information, visit sfcanaries.com or contact the Canaries front office.
