CANARIES WIND UP ON WRONG END OF PITCHERS DUEL
Geneva, IL – The Sioux Falls Canaries opened the scoring in the top of the first inning Friday night as Jabari Henry collected his league-leading 35th RBI but it wasn’t enough as the Birds fell 4-1 at Kane County.
Wyatt Ulrich led things off with a double before being brought in by Henry. The Cougars tied the game with an RBI triple in their half of the second inning and a base hit during the next at-bat gave them the lead for good. A two-run homerun in the bottom of the sixth would cap the scoring.
Ulrich finished the game with two hits and Robby Barham went 1-3 in his professional debut. Ty Culbreth struck out four in six innings of work and Tony Lanier tossed two scoreless frames in relief. The Canaries are now 9-23 overall and will look ahead to game two of the series Saturday night at 6:30pm.
