Fargo Rallies Late to Clinch Series Over Canaries
Fargo, ND – Mike Hart homered and Chris Hardin fanned five in his first professional start but Fargo-Moorhead scored six unanswered runs late to defeat Sioux Falls 7-2 on Thursday.
The RedHawks opened the scoring with an RBI double in the first inning before Hart’s longball tied the game in the top of the second. Darnell Sweeney led off the fourth frame with a single and scored on a base hit from Jordan Barth.
The 2-1 lead held until the RedHawks scored two runs on a single in the bottom of the sixth and would not trail the rest of the way. Fargo-Moorhead added a two-run homerun in the seventh inning and a pair of RBI singles in the eighth. Sioux Falls put two runners on base in the top of the ninth but could not bridge the gap.
Barth finished with two hits to lead the Birds offensively while Hardin allowed three runs on four hits over five and a third innings. Sioux Falls is now 7-12 and returns home Friday to open a four-game series with Gary SouthShore.
