SIOUX FALLS – The Sioux Falls Canaries (21-34) dropped the series finale vs. the Lincoln Saltdogs (28-27) Sunday at The Birdcage. The Canaries rallied for three runs in the final three innings but fell 6-3.

Wyatt Ulrich reached base four times with three walks and a fielder’s choice and scored in the ninth. He has now reached in 41 straight games. The league record is 56 straight games by Stephen Douglas (El Paso/Grand Prairie) in 2011.

Tyler Garkow (2-6) was credited with the loss for the Canaries. Garkow pitched five innings as the Sioux Falls starter, allowing seven hits and two runs (two earned). Kyle Kinman (5-2) earned  the win for the Saltdogs. Kinman pitched 5.1 innings, allowing three hits and no runs. He struck out eight Canaries while passing out five walks.

After falling behind 6-0, the Canaries rallied for single runs in the seventh and eighth. The offense scored once more in the ninth but left the bases loaded to end the game. The Birds left 12. The final margin was three or fewer for the ninth time in the last ten games.

Angelo Altavilla and Trey Michalczewski each recorded a hit and scored a run in the contest. Cade Gotta recorded two hits and an RBI. Zane Gurwitz and Jordan Ebert each recorded a hit.

Sioux City (31-24) will come to the Birdcage Tuesday night for a 7:05 matchup. The starting pitchers for both teams are TBA.
