Kansas City, KS – Jabari Henry drove in a pair of runs and mashed his league-leading 23rd homerun but it wasn’t enough to help the Canaries avoid a three-game series sweep as the Birds fell to Kansas City 4-2 on Thursday.

After three scoreless innings, Henry led off the top of the fourth with a solo homerun but JC Escarra put Kansas City in front for good with a two-run shot in the bottom half.

Pete Kozma delivered a two-out bloop RBI single in the sixth inning and David Thompson tripled and scored on a wild pitch in the seventh. Henry drove in Nick Gotta with an RBI fielder’s choice in the top of the eighth but Sioux Falls went down in order the rest of the way.

Joey Pulido tossed six strong innings, allowing two runs on six hits and struck out four without issuing a walk while Angelo Altavilla finished with two of the Birds’ five hits. Sioux Falls is now 24-39 and will host Kansas City for a three-game series beginning Friday at 7:05pm.
