Sioux Falls Canaries Re-Sign RHP Ryan Zimmerman for 2025 Season
Sioux Falls, SD – The Sioux Falls Canaries are excited to announce the return of right-handed pitcher Ryan Zimmerman for the 2025 season. Zimmerman, 29, will continue his pursuit of climbing the American Association’s career leaderboards. Heading into 2025, he ranks 7th in wins (42), 7th in innings pitched (654), and 3rd in strikeouts (616).
A graduate of the University of St. Thomas (MN), Zimmerman began his professional career in 2018 with the St. Paul Saints and quickly established himself as one of the league’s top arms. Despite battling a lower leg injury throughout the 2024 season, he made 19 starts and threw 102.2 innings.
“I couldn’t be more excited to have Zimm back,” said Canaries Manager Mike Meyer. “He’s been one of the top starters in our league for a long time and brings a wealth of big-game experience. Ryan has excellent fastball command and knows how to use his entire repertoire to keep hitters off balance. This year, he will also take over as the team’s Pitching Coach, stepping into the role previously held by Ty Culbreth. I’m particularly excited to see him grow as a leader on our staff.”
The Canaries are set to kick off their 33rd season on Friday, May 9th, when they take on the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks.
