The Canaries Re-Sign Mike Hart

SIOUX FALLS, SD – The Birds lineup just got a heck of a lot scarier…

The Canaries are pleased to announce that fan favorite, Mike Hart, will return for the 2024 season.

Hart, 29, will look to pick up where he left off last season, where he was arguably the most dangerous bat in all of the American Association. Despite being hampered with lower-body injuries all season, the Lowell, Massachusetts native’s numbers were CRAZY!

  • 85 Games
  • 62 Runs
  • 21 Doubles
  • 26 Home Runs
  • 28 Hit by Pitch (League Leader)
  • .302 Batting Average
  • .438 On-Base Percentage
  • .643 Slugging % (League Leader)
  • 080 On-Base + Slugging (League Leader)

“We went into the offseason knowing we needed Mike back for the 2024 season,” says Canaries Manager Mike Meyer. “He has grown into one of the most feared hitters in the league, and that’s 100% due to his commitment to the craft. Mike is unbelievably knowledgeable with his approach, and consistently puts together professional at-bats. What I’m honestly most excited about is the impact he will continue to have as our hitting coach. He is a fantastic teacher, and will continue to be a great leader for our young hitters.”

The Canaries open up their 50-game Regular Season home schedule on Friday, May 17th against the Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks. For more information on the latest news, season tickets, and group outings, visiting the Canaries website at www.sfcanaries.com or call the Front Office at (605)336-6060.
