WALKOFF WALK STUNS CANARIES

Cleburne, TX – The Sioux Falls Canaries led by multiple runs for most of Friday night’s game at Cleburne but the Railroaders drew six ninth inning walks to rally for a 5-4 victory.

Jabari Henry belted a two-run homerun in the first inning and the Birds capitalized on a pair of Cleburne errors to score twice more in the fifth. Zach Nehrir led off the bottom half of the sixth inning with a solo homerun to get the Railroaders on the board and Kacy Clemens struck for an RBI single in the eighth.

Walks would haunt the Birds as they attempted to finish things off in the ninth. Cleburne drew six free passes, including the walkoff walk drawn by Clemens with the bases loaded and two outs.

Trey Michalczewski led the Canaries offense with three hits while Henry and Zane Gurwitz each finished with two. Sioux Falls is now 15-29 and will look to even the series Saturday night at 7:06pm.
